En minnesstund är en betydelsefull och ofta mycket uppskattad del av avskedet. Den hålls vanligtvis i anslutning till begravningsceremonin och ger en möjlighet att samlas i en mer personlig och avslappnad miljö. Oftast finns det en närliggande prästgård eller församlingshem till kyrka eller kapell men det går också bra att ha minnestunden i hemmet eller på restaurang.
Här får familj, släkt och vänner tid att mötas, dela minnen, samtala och tillsammans hedra den som har gått bort.
Minnesstunden blir ofta ett värdefullt tillfälle där sorgen får utrymme att blandas med värme, gemenskap och ibland även ett leende – när fina minnen och berättelser får leva vidare.
Det är också viktigt att veta att en minnesstund kan hållas även utan en föregående begravningsceremoni, helt utifrån vad som känns rätt för de anhöriga.
